The poetry of Ernest Koliqi will, alas, have to remain a tantalizing mystery, a locked treasure, for those who do not understand his native language. As the poet Paul Valery has said, “A true poet is strictly untranslatable. He is never profoundly, intimately, and completely understood but by his own people: he is inseparable from the speech of his nation". Still a non-Albanian reader can catch glimpses and clues of greatness reading Koliqi's work in translation.Fjalët kyçe:
