The linguistic contribution of professor Xhevat Lloshi in the journals of the Institute of Albanology

Abstract

Professor Xhevat Lloshi stands out as one of the most prominent figures in the Albanian linguistics. His contributions are both extensive and rich, making him one of the most prolific linguists. His body of work includes a variety of original studies encompassing, monographs, studies, articles, conference papers, written pieces, reports and interviews, thereby establishing his presence across Albanian-speaking area. As to the Albanian language studies, he is particularly esteemed for his contributions to lexicography and lexicology, stylistics, and the historical analysis of written Albanian by notable authors such as Kristoforidhi, Frashëri, and Qiriazi. Furthermore, he has made valuable contribution to the standardization of the language and the promotion of language culture. He also participated in the Albanian Orthography Congress. Professor Xhevat Lloshi has unquestionably been part of the scientific endeavors at the Institute of Albanology for several decades. For over thirty years, he has contributed to the field through his research papers published in the scientific journal “Gjurmime albanologjike [Albanological Research]” - in the series dedicated to philological sciences. Notably, in 1987, he co-authored with Professor Jani Thomai a paper titled Paralele frazeologjike të shqipes me gjuhë të tjera të Ballkanit [Phraseological parallels of the Albanian language with other languages of the Balkans]. Additionally, he made his first contribution to the journal “Gjuha shqipe [Albanian language]” in 1998 with the article titled Shqipja e sotme në kontekste të ndryshme kulturore [Today's Albanian in different cultural contexts]. Furthermore, he has also participated in the annual scientific conference known as “Albanology Week.” Professor Lloshi has contributed to the field of Albanological studies by publishing 20 written pieces, 2 discussions, and 1 review in the journal "Albanian Language." Additionally, in the journal “Albanological Research,” – in the series of philological sciences, he published 7 conference papers and 1 review, providing valuable insights in the field of Albanology into topics requiring scientific discussions.
