Optimum interior lighting for vizually impaired people

Abstract

In recent decades the number of people with complete or partial visual impairment has greatly increased. It is the task of the architect and designer to create an accessible environment for this category of people as well, showing due care and attention to their requirements. The needs of this group of people are of a specific nature, which means that a design of the lighting system for persons with normal eyesight does not meet their requirements. Adjusting the lighting system for the visually impaired can only be achieved if the designer knows in depth their needs in terms of interior lighting. Such a topic caught my attention and will be the subject of this paper.
