Historical development of diplomatic missions

In the beginning diplomacy was not organized by the state, but more it was depending on traders and travelers, who were telling stories about wealth, land and people of foreign country. The first form o f state representing in ancient Greece was Proscenia, who had more the right in, trade and justice institutions than other foreigners, but he had moral obligations toward the host town and also toward his own city. With the time, the life of the representative was sacred and in case o f murdering him, automatically came the war and hard punishment of the state that made such a mistake. Attila the leader o f the Huns also respected the diplomatic representatives, whom they secure the food and shelter. They acted respectfully toward them, in order to show considerations for the country of representation. Also, when a host country wanted peace with a country of diplomatic envoy, they showed them the strength and the defense premises, to convince them for the peace deal. The importance of the representatives was very big and this was the reason to choose them cautiously. The diplomatic personnel had to be between 40-50 years old, friendly, sociable, well-informed and to act with the respect towards enemy. The modem diplomacy started in the medieval period, in the Machiavelli’s Venetia, were more important was the protections o f trade interest than the political interest, which become in first place with foundation o f Kingdoms like; France, England, Spain, Germany and so on. From this time on, starts the creation of the all time representative known as Embassy.
