The role of curriculum and school in children’s language development

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a panorama which has to do with problems related to the content and structure of the curriculum. Learning the mother tongue is very important for the intellectual formation of each individual. Creates facilities for learning and acquiring knowledge. Is an instrument of emotional development, an instrument of student growth, serves to create original ideas and develop personality. Language is a very important factor in the development of nations. It builds nations and holds them together. Mother tongue curricula must be constantly in coherence with the curricula of this subject, with European countries and with the changes that are made in these programs. Achieving competencies according to learning areas must be accompanied by accurate assessment and control instruments. The development of critical thinking should be an ongoing didactic process in all student speaking, reading and writing activities. Emphasis is placed on how today’s effective teaching and learning practices are transformed and enriched with new elements, helping the teaching and learning process. A special attention should be shown to increase students’ progress in gaining linguistic, grammatical and spelling knowledge and skills in written works for a better intellectual development at all their levels of knowledge, because language is the product of all their formation. Precisely, university auditors have the task of training teachers who are able to implement a new curriculum, based on competencies, to implement new didactic innovations in teaching, where the student is at its center and teaching takes on a comprehensive character.
