Abstract

Ameloblastoma is the most significant odontogenic tumor. It is a benign tumor with slow growth and high local invasion, it can grow to very large dimensions without giving metastases. Ameloblastoma has a recurrent and aggressive course but that rarely gives distant metastases. Radiologically it has characteristics similar to giant cell tumor, aneurysmal bone cyst, or metastases from kidney tumors. The definitive diagnosis is made only by histopathology where BRAF mutation identifying procedure by immunohistochemical technique has special importance. Patients usually present late, when the mass has reached considerable dimensions and facial deformity has appeared. Here we will present a case of a 47 year old patient who presents in the hospital with the complaint of a mass at the mandibular level. 7 years ago, the patient has done surgery for cystic ameloblastoma.
