Prof. Dr. Jup Kastrati, an outstanding personality of Albanian science, education, and culture
Abstract
Among the prominent personalities of Albanian education, science and culture is undoubtedly the right honorable Prof. dr. Jup Kastrati, awarded with: “People’s Teacher”1987 in Korca and “Grand Master of Labour”, by the President in 1999. In 2002 also City Council of Shkodra gave the title “Honorary Citizen”, on his 90th anniversary of the birth. He was born in Shkodra, on 15 April 1924 and Shkodra environment would have an impact on his intellectual and social formation. He finished his primary and secondary education in his birth place, while the highest education at the University of Tirana with a degree on Language and Literature. Accidentally I meet him at the promotion of Prof. dr. Jup Kastrati “History of Albanology” on 20th November 2000, organized under the activities of “Shkodra in Centuries” at Museum of History, an annual activity (attended by researchers from different countries of the world).
