Abstract

The beautiful folk songs of the city of Shkodra are of interest not only for the studies in the field of ethnomusicology, but also for the ethnologists and historians. Through them, we are provided with rich information on various aspects of the urban life in Shkodra, its social, economic and cultural level in the periods when those songs were created etc.

Meanwhile they serve as a good source of information for historians as well, particularly when there is lack of documentary sources.

Especially for the ethnologists, the folk songs provide a very rich material for the documentation the folk dresses and their level of development during the 19th century time when, as it is made known by the folk songs sang by fipple groups of this city, they reached the climax of the their development.

We think that one of the reasons for the reflection of folk dresses in such dimensions is the fact that a part of the authors of these songs have been masters of popular crafts such as tailors and embroiderers.

In this article, it is dealt just with these problems illustrated also with verses of different songs,
