A survey on the life and work of educational and pedagogical personalities of islam in Ulqin

Abstract

Life and works of hafëz Ali Riza Ulqinaku (1855 - 1913) Hafëz Ali Riza Ulqinaku: In Ulcin he is well-known as creator of cultural and educational values.
He wrote „The Mevludi`"` in Albanian language besides other writers such as Hasan Zyko, Ismail Floqi, Haxhi Çiçkaj and Avdullah Konispoli.
His „Mevludi“ was published with the title „Tergume - The Mevlude Ala Lisaan Arnavud” (Translation of Mevlud in Istanbul) and presents the translation of the Mevludi written by Suleiman Qelebiu.
Hafëz Ali died in Shkodra on 23 April, 1913.
Hafëz Ali Ulqinaku was an outstanding patriot, a talented poet, an excellent translator, a distinguished lexicographer and an honored alim in the circles where he lived and worked. Hafëz Ali Ulqinaku signed his works with his nickname: Ali Riza. He left behind several works, publications and manuscripts.
He published a collection of three separate works:
1. The Albanian translation of the Turkish work “Huda Rabbim”;
2. The Mevludi entitled “Tergume - The Mevlude Ala Lisaan Arnavud“;
3. A Religion – Story-teller entitled “Majmoo - ul – avah``.
He left also an Albanian primer book in manuscript and three Albanian dictionaries, which he named ``Ulqin``.

Hafëz Said Mujali (1897-1957)
With Hafëz Saeed Mujal, the mejtep and madrassah of Ulcin prepared cadres for comprehensive national and cultural activities.
Hasan J. Mavriqi, Hafëz Hamid Buzuku etc. were his students.
Also he dedicated a segment of his activity to life, work and sp iritual grace of holy men, as was Muhammad saw.
Hafëz Saeed Mujal studied in detail the Kuran and the words of the Prophet Muhammad saw. At the same time he was also chairman of the Council of Vakıfs in Ulcin, where he looked after the preservation and protection of Vakıf property and Kadiu vakufore.
At the age of 10 he enrolled at the meytep of Ulcin, where he graduated successfully and then continued to take lessons at Hafëz Alush Llunji in Ulcin.
After completing studies for hafëz, he continued to take religious lessons from the Muderris and Hafëz Hasan Mavriqi in Ulcin.
By the Decision of the Islamic Community of Ulcin, in December 31st 1920, Hafëz Saeed Mujali was appointed as imam in the Mosque of Sailors in the neighborhood of Rana, where he worked till January 1st 1931.

Hafëz Hasan J. Mavriqi (1884-1969)
The religious activity of Hafëz Hassan J. Mavriqi started in Ulcin, where he worked as Imam, khateeb and vaiz (lecturer) in the mosque of Namazgjah.
By assisting youth of Ulcin and giving his contribution to the welfare of Islamic faith, Hafëz Hasan Mavriqi founded the school that was similar to the lower level of high school. Later, he founded the Madrassah, as religious high school, in which he was appointed muderis (professor) in 1912.
In 1924, by decision of Ministry of Religion in Belgrade, Hafëz Mavriqi was appointed at the position of Mufti of the county of Tivar and Ulqin, with its seat in the old Tivar (Bar), where he worked till 1930, and in that year he was retired.
At the same time he was Chairman of the Council of Vakıfs in Tirvar, in which he was engaged in the preservation and protection of vakıf property. Also, Hafëz Hassan J. Mavriqi carried out the duty of imam and hatib in the Mosque Omerhoxhiqa of Old Tivar.

Hafëz Jusuf Cungu (1874-1952)
Hafëz Jusuf Cungu was dedicated mainly to the philosophic and literary literature and to the learning of foreign languages.
Along with Albanian, Serbian and Turkish he learned Arabic, the Language of Koran, Persian and the language of the Islamic poetry.
At the meytep and madrassah of Ulcin, he would keep the exercises with pupils with talebe-s.

Hafëz Abdul Buzuku started the religious activity as imam, hatib, hafëz and vais (lecturer) in some mosques of Ulcin.
He wished to be helpful to the youth of Ulcin. 

Hafëz Halil Hoxha (1877-1958)
Hafëz Halil Hoxha started the religious activity as imam, hatib, hafëz and vais (lecturer) in some mosques of Ulcin. He was a good connoisseur of Arab and Turkish religious and philosophical literature.
