Abstract

Al Biruni i cili ka jetuar në shekullin e XI është një nga shkencëtarët më të mëdhenj muslimanë të gjithë kohës. Ai shkroi më shumë se 180 libra në disa disiplina shkencore të tilla si, histori, histori e feve, gjeografisë, gjeodezisë, filozofisë, matematikës, trigonometrisë, astronomisë, mjekësisë dhe shumë fushave të tjera. Librat e tij janë studiuar për shekuj me rradhë në universitetet më të njohura të lindjes dhe perëndimit. George Sarton do të emëronte shekullin kur Biruni ka jetuar si "shekulli i Birunit" për të shprehur rëndësinë dhe kontributin e tij ndaj shkencës dhe njerëzimit në përgjithësi. Artikulli përpiqet të japë disa informacione në lidhje me jetën dhe veprat e tij. Gjithashtu për të theksuar disa arritje të rëndësishme të Birunit të tilla si metodologji, objektivizëm dhe rezultate të tjera shkencore të tij ndaj shkencës në përgjithësi. Të dhënat e dhëna për jetën e tij gjithashtu ofrojnë disa shembuj në lidhje me zhvillimin e shkencës në shekullin e njëmbëdhjetë. Gjithashtu Biruni është një shembull i mirë për të treguar se si dituria është transmetuar në të gjitha moshat dhe në vende të ndryshme. Profesionalizmi i tij, objektiviteti dhe profili i një shkencëtari bëri që Biruni dhe veprat e tij të studiohen edhe në ditët e sotme, dhjetë shekuj më vonë.
