The Levels of Equivalence in Quran Translations in Albanian Language

Abstract

Over the last years, linguistic studies have been spread in different spheres. Fortunately among them was also the Noble Quran. Over ten versions of Quran translated in Albanian language aroused curiosity for scholars of Albanian language and literature, especially those who deal with philology and theology at the same time.
In this paper work we will mainly focus on a particular sphere of philology respectively that of translation.
During the 19th century, many translation theories were developed. One of them was the theory of equivalence. This theory treat the possible levels of equivalence that the interpreter should take care of during the translation and keep them in the translated text.
Apart of many levels of Qur’anic equivalence, we focused on linguistic, stylistic, semantic and paradigm equivalence. However, we have also treated the impossibility of transmitting the spiritual dimension that the Quran has in Arabic Language which is a dimension that can never have an equivalence. This recent issue exceed the boundaries of language, but nevertheless the translation is often associated with metalinguistic problems such as culture etc.
