Korabi field, its wonders and its secrets

Abstract

Highest mountain peak of Albania as well as Balkans, mountain Korab has its own field too. This mountain field has got songs written about it, particularly one standing out as the oldest of them all. It deals with humanitarian tragedy going on this field, a spiritual turbulence experienced by residents of those proud alpine peaks. This is not a song describing the pain caused by the immigration only. It deals also with the drama which it leaves behind, those poor souls waiting and waiting for him or her. Its about a mother on her doorstep looking hopeless down the road, brothers and sisters broken hearted. That’s why she calls on her son to come back because without him their lives will become only worse. At the very first verses of this song the young bride speaks first, paving way for other close relatives. This mountain peak stands above all the others, like a grandfather to all other mountains of the Balkans. It is made of three ridges with nice valleys in between. Each of them has a significant mane like: Fanfare ridge, Lodging ridge and Shehu’s ridge. Travellers and visitors say that Fanfair ridge has a great landscape upon which on west side raises the Korab mountain. It has a stadium shape and on top of it there is coolest spring gush in Albania. During June to my astonishment, visitors can find on those fields snow and many flowers blooming with endless colours and leafs.
The song with its contest reveals a symbiose of humans with the mountain itself. Perhaps many-many humans coded on the concience of generations since the early times where there wasn’t even a path to take you to this field. It includes inside a deep sense of missing people, seperations, happiness weeping, desperation and the hope, so humane are fantastic. The hope that perhaps one day there with be light at the end of the tunnel. They stand like symbiosis that can’t do without each-other.
