The Begginings of Translation from Arabic to Albanian Language

Abstract

The translation of Arabic literature into Albanian language started in the early years of Albania conversion in Islamic Religion. Learning Arabic language became a need for Albanians as they had to learn the Islamic religion or they needed to translate texts from Arabic into Albanian language and vice versa.
The centuries-long life of the translation from Arabic into Albanian language leaves no room for existing discussions, but for the types and quality of translation. If we refer to the different historical stages, we will see that the vast majority of the translated literature has always been religious, with minor exceptions from Bejtexhinj literature.
Throughout this paper we will elaborate the factors of Albanians focus only in the translation of religious literature and why they did not translate from other fields. We will see the challenges and problems of translation from Arabic to Albanian language nowdays. The problem of challenges is never onesided or directed only in one side, but it is spread in more segments: the translated work, the linguistic culture of the translator, the quality of the publication, etc.
Finally, we will come out with some conclusions and suggestions, in order that future scholars have a reflection of the problems of Albanian translation from the Arabic language.
