Pelasgians ever and ever closer

Abstract

This writing brings new data regarding the thesis of the Albanians' origin from Pelasgians. These data, even though scarce, tend to shed ever so little light on that foggy emptiness that unites and separates at the same time Albanian-Illyrians from their predecessors, known already by the name Pelasgians. For Greek and Roman authors, the territories where Pelasgians lived extend from the coast of Minor Asia, including the region of Aegean Sea, Crete, Thessaly, Epirus, and Peloponnesus up to the Italic Peninsula.
But what is the origin of the Pelasgians? This is a generic question, which has not found a sound answer yet.
However, such unknown facts do not hold us back from investigating what is necessary to sustain the thesis in question. And actually, these investigations are carried out covering a period beyond that when Illyrians lived. Admitting that the Illyrian culture comes into light about the late Bronze Age (2100- 1200 B.C.); the question arises: What has happened before that period and on? With what has been filled that time span? Already it is known scientifically that primitive crowds belonging to Paleolithic Age, or even to earlier periods, were conceived gradually into amalgams of a common stock. With the passing of time their sprung branches, one of which should be that big population called Pelasgians. From the bosom of them there sprung various tribes.
Today, in this nebulous ethnicity we search and find many things that link us with it: in the field of the religious belief (deities, cults, rites), in that of the toponymy, onomastics, lexicology etc.
All of these and other push us to believe that we have to do with a pre-Hellenic and pre-Illyrian substrate that "screams" to draw attention on many data that still remains to be investigated.
