“Kasîde-i Burde” in Albanian Language

Abstract

One of the best poems ever devoted to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is undoubtedly the "Kasîde-i Burde" of Imam Busîrî. Later on this poem has served as a model and inspiration for many authors who have glorifed the Prophet (pbuh) and have expressed their love and respect for him. “Kasîde-i Burde” is thought to be the most popular and memorable poem throughout the world.
There are dozens of comments that have been made to this poem by prominent scholars in different times and places, both in Oriental and Western languages. 
Among the best known are mentioned the comment of “Ümer el-Harbût” titled “Asîdetu ‘sh-shehde sherh Kasîdetu ‘l-Burde” and te coment of Hâlid b. Abdullâh el-Ezherî “Ez-Zubdetu fî sherh Kasîdetu ‘l-Burde” ect.
In Turkish language this poem was translated and commented by the prominent Albanian, politician, ideologist, diplomat, literary, renaissance and activist of the Albanian case, Abidin pasha Dino from Preveza (1843-1906), titled "Tercüme ve Şerh- of Kasîde-i Bürde" (Istanbul 1882). It is considered one of the best translations of this time in this language. Also in Albanian Language this poem has been translated from a lot of authors.
At the beginning of XIXth century this poem was translated into Albanian language by our distinguished poet Muhamet Çami (1784-1844). As far as we know, this is the first translation of this narration in Albanian language, although it has remained in the manuscript until today. During 1853/54, this poem was also translated by Mulla Abdullah Sulejman Ali hoxha from Konispol, this also reamined in manuscript. But in 1924 in Korça, Hf. Abdullah Sëmlaku (1892-1960) translated "Burden" as a whole by provided it with notes and also published it.

“Kasîde-i Burde” is special work and with and with a significant impact on our literary streams of this thematic. This can be ascertained not only regarding translators, topics, but also its artistic model and especially its rare euphonic dimension. While with the translation of this poem Hz, Abdullah Sëmlaku, , in addition to his literary culture and talent, has clearly demonstrated the capacity of the Albanian Language to bring to its linguistic format precious values of world literature with Islamic content.
