Walking through the Sami Frasheri's publications

Abstract

Sami Frashëri, great scholar and ideologue of Albanian Renaissance was and remains one of the most prominent publicist patriots at all times.
His legacy in this area is flourishing.
He entered journalism as editor and chief editor of the cultural magazine “Hadika” (Garden). Two years later Sami, because of his liberal views was interned in Tripoli (1874), where he issues the newspaper “Tarabullus”. In 1876 in Istanbul published and directed his first daily Turkish newspaper “Sabah” (“Morning”).
His publications flourished in earnest during the Albanian Prizren League years. He came up with the very ideas of the “League”and protected them at major news papers in Istanbul. At one of most promonent news papers of the time “Terçuman-i Hakikat”, at, 1878 he published a cycle of written articles, and political pamphlets.
Through them he conveyed to the public opinion large information, clear and new thoughts and interpretations about Albanians and Albania. He becomes chief-editor of prestigious “Terçuman-i Sark” at its 74th edition on 18th of April 1878. It was time of the Congress of Berlin where the Albanian borders were being drawn. Sami discusses and talks with newspapers and journalists as well as historians and politicians who on purpose were disinforming the truth about Albania and the Albanian nation.
He also publishes some cultural magazines like: “Muharrir” and “Hafta”. First magazine to be published in Albanian Language on Istanbul was:”Drita”-“Dituria” during 1884-1885. It showed the great help that our great scholar and author of numerous books gave to Albanian language school.
