Chameria A Territory That Requires Resolution Of Its Rights

Abstract

In the history of the Albanian lands, rarely can be found such a major issue as it is that of Chams which, in the past 100 years, to have created an issue so important to Albanian, Greek, Balkan, and even to the European geopolitics. It remains still a strong diplomatic, political, legal, national, deadlock for Albania, especially for those successors of this province who do not live anymore in lands where they were born and their forerunners had lived since the creation of life in Balkans.
In the last 100 years there have been and also continues to be openly exercised the Hellenization strategy, carried out in three stages following three ways:
1) Ethnic cleansing, through savage genocide, exercised on the Muslim Albanian population, aiming at their removal from the provincial lands.
2) The change of the ethnic structure of the province through its colonization by Greek and Vlach immigrants;
3) The Albanian assimilation of the Orthodox population through its repression of national identity and prohibition of the use of Albanian language, etc.
In the geopolitics of the Balkans and Europe, obviously of Albania, too, Chameria is the only part where, instead of a room full of light, full of air, always evergreen, full of lullabies, with never missing the sea waves, we may call otherwise the “Museum of Blood” or the “Museum of Injustice”.
If we review all the 100-year way of Chameria with a colder eye, under the political, administrative, linguistic, cultural, economic oppression of the Greek State, we would say that it is returning for all into a still undiscovered injustice, a hide of truth, a fog that all seek to cover it.
The American researcher Justin McCrathy, in his book, entitled “Death and ethnic migrationcleansing of Ottoman Muslims” published in the U.S.A. in 1999, has written that the strategy of ethnic cleansing of Albanians started with the victory of the Greek Revolution of the year 1827. He says: “The Greek Revolution is the first movement that identifies itself with the death and expulsion of the Muslims from their country’”.
