Abstract

This article identifies and examines some contemporary structuralist concepts in the work of Spiro Floqi. The purpose of this paper is twofold. My aim is, first, to analyze the impact of the European structuralism in Floqi’s syntactic work. Secondly, the criteria of defining the minimal obligatory constituents of the sentence will be looked at. A special interest is shown in the criteria for determining obligatory and nonobligatory adverbs and adverbials in Albanian sentence structure. Furthermore, the significance of Floqi’s work is pointed out. Finally, this study calls for a new investigation and improvements of the former theoretical treatments for the obligatory sentence constituents in Albanian language.
